IV.
Patient has incapacitating disease that is a constant threat to life.
V.
A moribund patient who is
not expected to live 24 hour with or without surgery.
E. Emergency
surgery, E is placed after the Roman numeral.
Since
inception it has been revised on several occasions and an ‘E’ suffix was
included denoting an emergency case
